In order to get the latest scoop on the season’s hottest trends, we asked Ricky Wilson, a Dior celebrity makeup artist, to share the looks and products that he’s most excited about this season. From glossy lips to full-on colour on the eyes, consider it your go-to summer beauty report:

Q: What are the top beauty trends for this summer?

A: The top trends for summer are colourful eyes that go beyond just sweeping a bronze or gold shadow across the lid and calling it a day. We are seeing coral orange and even coppers and rusts on the eyes, which is super-chic and can be worn with any skin tone. The limited-edition Dior Riviera 5 Couleurs palette in 479 Bayadere is perfect to achieve this look. There’s also a return to colourful glossy lips, but with more of a tint and gloss versus a full-impact lipstick. When it comes to the traditional summer bronze skin, we are seeing more matte bronzers used in a slightly sculpted look versus all-over bronzing.

Q: Is there one trend you’re most excited about?

A: I am most excited about the lips. Dior has launched some new lip products that I am living for. There are the lip tints, which I have been using as a base and the new Dior Addict lipsticks, which are super-shiny that I layer on top. Pairing the two will give you a long-wearing lip look that’s also conditioning so the lips won’t dry out.

Q: Is there a colour that’s emerging as the must-try?

A: I have been in love with a colour that I honestly, by looking at it in the tube, didn’t know I would like it so much. A friend of mine turned me onto it and I’ve been obsessed ever since. It’s a nude peachy lip in the Dior Addict line called Mimirose. I like it because I’ve used it on light, medium, olive and deep skin tones and it looks stunning!

Q: I’m seeing so much colour play on the eyes with vivid neon hues. How would you recommend people explore this trend?

A: I’m all for colour on the eyes. I’ve been using a ton of colours I don’t normally use for day-to day-makeup but I feel like we are having a fun carefree moment after all that’s been going on in the world. Anyone can wear colour with confidence, depending on comfort and personality. For instance, if you’re pretty minimal when it comes to bright eye makeup, you may stick with a neutral shadow and opt for a vibrant eyeliner or mascara in bright blue. I am loving the colour assortment of the new Diorshow on Stage liquid liners for this trend.

Q: Lastly, any tips to make your summer makeup look last through the heat?

A: I have a few tips here. Primer and setting are always essential, but it’s also important to have a long-wearing foundation. I like the Dior Forever Skin Veil primer and Forever Matte foundation for summer. I also like to set the makeup with a generous amount of Forever Perfect fix setting mist. Other tips for eyes and colour, use a bit of setting spray on the shadow brush you use for your lids. This will amplify the shadow but also make it last longer in the heat and humidity.
