About this time last calendar year (wow! It was that long ago, I just seemed it up!!) I was questioned to be section of a group exhibition of artists that ended up both influenced by or worked alongside the river Severn. I didn’t say no though…I made the decision to commit to executing something, that experienced become just a little outdoors my comfort and ease zone. I joined the Severn Sisters and we place on our very first exhibition at 7Q Gallery in Chepstow.
The exhibition seemed fantastic and very very good sales were made, but I want to inform you about our “second” event….Open House……
It was all the brave concept of Annie Brennan, who we’ve now all named our “mother superior”. An plan primarily based around identical exhibitions that she’d visited/listened to of in metropolis centres – all of the “sisters” placing on an exhibition more than a weekend, in her home. So, just after some conferences, some snacks and a handful of beverages, with no promotion spending plan and no plan if everyone would appear, we made a decision to go for it!
Well… I imagine the only words and phrases to describe this earlier weekend are resounding accomplishment!! There had been 13 of us associated all together, and merely by some social media sharing and a bit of leaflet printing on our property printers, folks did discover out at about it – loads of individuals in simple fact! It just goes to clearly show that if you put your mind to it, and give your extremely finest work, anything is feasible!
For me although, the genuine success has been getting this incredible group of gals (and a person token gentleman of system) that have just been so supportive to just about every other in the course of the organisation and the true party. Over the earlier handful of weeks, but especially throughout the Open up Property itself, we chatted about so lots of matters and shared so numerous laughs. Theres certainly been hugs, but to be trustworthy, it feels like the Severn Sisters are just 1 large continuous hug. The way that the group just gelled was of course noticed by our people as one of them thought that we all lived and labored collectively in Annie’s residence!
We’re all different ages, from distinct spots and backgrounds and have unique views, likes and dislikes, and that’s unquestionably ok.
