Marinette County approves funds to support City of Marinette Airboat after reconsideration
1 min readPast month the Marinette County Board of supervisors approved contributing $43,900 to the City of Marinette in direction of the obtain of a new 24 ft look for and rescue airboat with the caveat that the county be equipped to use the airboat. Nonetheless, at yesterday’s County Board meeting a motion was introduced forth by Supervisor Allen to rethink motion taken by the County board to transfer the $43,900 to the City of Marinette for order of the Airboat. Because the Metropolis of Marinette has lately allocated $500 per staff for COVID-19 vaccinations using ARPA resources when they could have made use of their ARPA resources toward the funding of the airboat instead of inquiring the County for funding. County Administrator John Lefebvre suggests, “the City of Marinette obtained $1.1 million in ARPA funding.”
Supervisor Ken Keller says, “there is a motive why the city is on the lookout for participation in the buying of the airboat.”
Soon after a prolonged discussion, the board voted, and it arrived in at 14 in favor of the airboat to 13 not in favor. The anticipated supply day of the airboat is mid-January.
